This historic town in Warwickshire is best known for being the birthplace of Shakespeare, but despite its close ties to the Bard there’s so much more to offer.
It’s the perfect place for break to recharge, surrounded by beautiful buildings and rolling countryside. Here’s our roundup of the 5 best ways to relax in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Go for a spa day
Is there anything more relaxing than lazing by the pool with a glass of fizz? No choice harder than whether to go to the sauna, steam room, yoga hut or what to have for lunch. Oh, and whether to choose a facial, massage – or both! Our gorgeous spa at Billesley Manor is the perfect way to while away a day and spend some time focusing on relaxation and your wellbeing. Bliss.
Enjoy a picnic by the river
We’re lucky to have the beautiful River Avon running through our town and there’s no shortage of stops to roll out a blanket and enjoy a picnic. We love The Dell (in Avonbank Gardens, just next to Holy Trinity Church) or Bancroft Gardens (opposite the Royal Shakespeare Theatre) where you can often find some impromptu outdoor RSC performances. If you don’t fancy putting together a hamper then why not enjoy one of our delicious afternoon teas on the patio overlooking the manicured gardens?
Get out of the office and have some fun with your colleagues
We’ve all had a rough few years thanks to the pandemic so now is the perfect time to get your peers together for a team-building day and make some new memories. Eventurous can hold indoor and outdoor events for your group – think soapbox derbies, treasure hunts and escape rooms to name a few. Head out for dinner with your other half and let our chefs spoil you in The Stuart Restaurant or Great Hall which feature original 16th century oak panelling with period fireplaces, historic paintings and grand chandeliers. Our menus are seasonal using local produce so expect a real treat, or if you have a personal favourite then we can make a bespoke menu.
