An Exclusive Peek into Our New Refurbishment
Written 18th September 2020
Welcome to Billesley Manor Hotel & Spa in Stratford-upon-Avon; it’s wonderful to have you back! Whilst the UK was effectively out -of-action, we worked hard behind the scenes to give our hotel a brand new look and feel.
Our come-back began with a £5.6 million refurbishment, which has allowed us to create a modern, yet timeless, space inside our 16th-century Elizabethan manor house.
Since closing our doors in March in-line with government directives around coronavirus, we’ve taken the opportunity to create something truly special with our indoor and outdoor spaces – with the aim to produce a truly luxurious space that reflects our historic town and beautiful Warwickshire countryside.
Our transformation has involved upgrading several of our guest spaces, including the reception area, the Great Hall, our gallery, and the Stuart Restaurant.
The library has seen one of our most striking changes; with an ode to the great playwright, our library has been renamed the ‘As You Like It Lounge’. It’s believed that Shakespeare wrote this famous play on our very grounds – and in commemoration, the name of our new library is paired with a rather intriguing ceiling of floating books. In a further nod to the creative genius, we decided to re-create the setting from which Shakespeare could have worked his magic; and in a truly unique experience, guests are able to sit at a beautifully restored desk that overlooks our picturesque grounds.
Our work has continued throughout the hotel, with pops of colour being added to our original oak wood panelling. Traditional yet stylish, we’ve opted for blue and gold to create a truly relaxing, yet luxe ambience that beautifully complements our rich heritage. We’ve paired this with plush, velvet furniture, which is accentuated by our display of Pratiksha Tayal’s artwork. This adds a contemporary twist to the traditional paintings and tapestries that previously adorned our walls.
Amidst the changes made to our social spaces, our bedrooms, of course, have certainly not been left untouched. With understated comfort and luxury in mind, our bedrooms have been updated to complete the guest journey. In our new designs, traditional features are combined with 21st-century high-tech amenities to create a charming, inviting space that’s ideal for any traveller.
The refurbishment doesn’t end with our interiors. We wanted to make our outdoor spaces even more pleasurable, too; with new crafted landscaping to complement the 11th century church and ornate topiary garden.
The unprecedented closure of our hotel has, of course, been challenging – but we’ve remained positive by channelling our energy into our refurbishment programme, using this period as a time for transformation and improvement.
We were excited to open our doors again on Thursday 27th August, and it was wonderful to welcome our guests back.
