The Great British Break – Luxury Warwickshire hotel, Billesley Manor, now taking bookings following major lockdown refurbishment
Written 23rd July 2020
As lockdown measures continue to be eased, a luxury Warwickshire hotel, Billesley Manor, has announced its plans to re-open from Thursday 27th August 2020 onwards following a major lockdown refurbishment – and is now welcoming bookings fot the Great British break.
Set in 11 acres of parkland, Billesley Manor is a stunning 16th century Elizabethan manor house hotel. Located just 3 miles from Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon, the historic property is steeped in history and charm, making it the perfect place for a great British break – the likes of which are expected to be in high demand as overseas travel restrictions force members of the public to holiday closer to home.
Whilst the hotel’s spa and leisure facilities will remain closed for the time being in line with government regulations, guests will once again be able to enjoy the rest of the hotel’s extensive grounds, including an 11th century church with a major connection to the Bard. Britain’s most famous playwright may well have married Anne Hathaway here in November 1582. 67 years later, the light-filled architectural gem approached through an avenue of lime trees, would also host the wedding of his granddaughter.
The hotel’s nearby exquisite listed topiary garden – one of the finest examples of the art in Warwickshire – planted over 100 years ago, replicates the giant pieces of a chess game, providing another unique opportunity for guests to spend scenic time outdoors.
The hotel’s atmospheric Stuart Restaurant will also be offering visitors the chance to indulge in delectable dishes using the very best of locally sourced ingredients. Restaurant bookings should be made in advance of visit.
Billesley Manor, which has been temporarily closed since March in line with government directives, has used the opportunity to push ahead with an extensive £5.6 million refurbishment programme designed to enhance the luxury reputation of the former Elizabethan home’s hospitality offering.
This has included renovating a number of its public spaces including the reception area, the Great Hall and its gallery, the Stuart restaurant and the library, the latter of which has been renamed the ‘As You Like It Lounge’ in a nod to Shakespeare who is believed to have written the famous comedy there.
At the time of its scheduled reopening, a large proportion of the hotel’s 71 bedrooms will have been fully refurbished for complete, understated comfort and luxury, whilst guests will also be able to make the most of newly renovated public facilities with wheelchair access for the convenience of all guests.
Wanting to support the local community, Billesley Manor has been donating furniture from its renovations to The Shakespeare Hospice, which provides specialist palliative day care to over a thousand adults and young people from South Warwickshire and the North Cotswolds.
Stephen Fearnley, General Manager at Billesley Manor, said: “The unprecedented closure of the hotel has of course been both challenging and disappointing – especially for our guests. However, we’ve remained positive by channelling our energy into our refurbishment programme, using this period as a time for transformation and improvement so that guests will have an even more enjoyable experience once we re-open.
The health and safety of our guests and staff is our utmost priority and we have been listening to government guidance and adapting our operations accordingly to help control the spread of COVID-19. Having undertaken extensive precautions we are now confident that we will be in a position to re-open our doors from 27th August 2020, and we look forward to welcoming guests, giving them the chance to experience the new and improved Billesley Manor”.
To celebrate the reopening of the hotel, Bespoke Hotels and Billesley Manor are currently offering a ‘Welcome Back Break’, where guests can enjoy a one-night stay in a newly refurbished standard room from just £149.00 per room, per night, subject to availability. This price includes breakfast and an additional £50 voucher to spend on your choice of food and drink during your stay. Offer valid on selected dates until 31st March 2021. Weekend supplements may apply. Bookings for the great British break are fully flexible with cancellation up to 72 hours prior to arrival.
