Luxury without limits | Inclusive initiatives at Billesley Manor
Luxury shouldn't be reserved for the few - it’s something we believe everyone should be able to enjoy, no exceptions, no fine print. Last year, we rolled out initiatives to support visitors with dementia. It was all about making a positive impact by taking more steps to make our Manor a more inclusive, accessible place.
It was wonderfully received at the time and it’s been turning heads again at the HMA Hotel Marketing Awards this week. So, with a quick trip down to the iconic Savoy in London, we were thrilled to pick up a standalone recognition, made just for us: the Make a Difference Award. Honestly, we’re over the moon.
We’re really proud of it - and it’s given us even more drive to keep pushing the boundaries of what inclusive hospitality can be.
With that in mind, here’s a peek at how we’re breaking barriers and flinging (spa) doors wide open so everyone can get the pampering they deserve.
Beyond rhetorics: what inclusive luxury really looks like
Inclusivity can’t be tick-boxed - it has to be embedded in the experience. We’ve gone beyond the basics to rethink how guests with a range of needs are welcomed, supported and celebrated here at Billesley.
Here’s how we’re putting our principles into practice:
Dementia-friendly training
We’ve teamed up with specialist care provider New Age Care to deliver in-depth, dementia-aware training to our staff. It’s about more than awareness - it’s about ensuring our guests are met with kindness, understanding and confidence from the moment they check in. It helps our team respond calmly and compassionately, creating a safer, more relaxed environment for everyone.
We also repositioned mirrors in our rooms and suites and labelled loos clearly.
Braille wedding guides: because love needs no translation
We’re wedding pros, but even we know there’s a lot to juggle when it comes to the big day. Our Braille wedding guide helps visually impaired couples and their guests navigate the venue and celebration, independently and with confidence - from the ceremony right through to the canapé.
It’s a small touch that makes a big difference. Because when we say “everyone’s invited,” we mean it.
Specialist wellness treatments
We offer bespoke massage treatments for guests affected by cancer - whether they’re in treatment or recovery. These massages are designed to be gentle and soothing, focusing on easing tension and promoting comfort - without fuss. Rest easy - you’re in expert hands with our spa team, who know exactly how to get you feeling refreshed.
Accessible features
-
Step-free access: what it says on the tin. Easy, straightforward routes to our spa facilities, bar and restaurant.
-
Accessible bedrooms and bathrooms: Spacious layouts with practical features like grab rails and walk-in showers for genuine comfort and safety.
-
Service animals? Always on the guest list.
Not a campaign - a commitment
These aren’t add-ons. They’re essentials - and we’re constantly reviewing how we can do more, better.
Whether you’re planning a weekend away, a once-in-a-lifetime wedding or simply looking for a hotel that gets it — you’ll find comfort, care and guaranteed luxury at Billesley Manor.
